Angiography is a diagnostic procedure that produces images of the blood vessels of the heart. It can be performed with normal X-rays or, more commonly, with computed tomography (CT angiography) or magnetic resonance imaging (MR angiography).
CT angiography of the coronary arteries is used to detect calcifications and narrowing or other damage to the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart. It is also used to detect abnormalities of the heart valves or other structural damage, such as tumors or ruptured blood vessels.
3 hours of food abstinence before the examination, all medications can be taken.
The upper body is uncovered, ECG electrodes are applied and a peripheral indwelling cannula (Venflon) is applied.
If the heart rate is too high, a beta blocker is applied. Contrast medium is administered during the examination.
These examinations are provided as private services. This means that they will not be billed directly to the health insurance company, but will be billed directly to you in the form of a fee invoice.
