The Prostate is located just below the urinary bladder and surrounds the urethra. The most common disease of the prostate is prostatitis and (benign prostatic hyperplasia) often it is difficult to distinguish prostate carcinoma, which is common in older adults in men. In these cases, an MRI-targeted ultrasound-guided biopsy of the prostate is routinely performed. Furthermore, a PSMA scan can be performed for staging in cases of existing prostate carcinoma.
